We are not immune to the conditions of life. We all gain and lose, build and rebuild, come through and pass on. These are the turnings on the wheel, and the descending and ascending principle of wholeness. All traditions speak of this as “the way.” Out of darkness comes light. Out of contrast, the other is brought into being. Sometimes, the turn is precipitated by a sudden event, or the turn is a slow erosion of beliefs and ideals that takes us down into ourselves, and into the fundamental questions of life. Who are we, why and what is our meaningful pursuit? Sometimes, it is not possible to see our way into these questions, and we must reach out to someone who can help us navigate through.
